The Indian Railways has sanctioned Rs 509 crore for two major railway flyover projects in Odisha, aimed at improving train operations and reducing congestion. These projects, part of the Energy, Mineral & Cement Corridor Scheme, will bring smoother travel and better efficiency to key railway routes in the state.
A 10.89 km rail flyover will be constructed in Cuttack, connecting Rajathgarh, Radhakishorepur, and Machhapur Railway Stations. This project, with an investment of Rs 268.92 crore, will allow trains to move simultaneously without waiting for cross-traffic. This improvement is expected to reduce delays and streamline operations in the busy Nergundi-Cuttack-Barang-Rajathgarh corridor.
In Rayagada, a 5.50 km flyover is planned at Singapur Road Station. Costing Rs 239.83 crore, it will ease congestion on the Raipur-Vizianagaram Rail Line. By eliminating cross-traffic delays, this flyover will ensure uninterrupted train movements and boost efficiency in the Rayagada-Singapur Road corridor.
These flyovers mark a significant step toward modernizing India’s railway network. With smoother train operations, passengers and freight services in Odisha will experience improved connectivity and reliability.
