India Emerges as a Key Player in CASE Construction Equipment’s Global Strategy

Key Highlights

  • India contributes 10% of CNH’s sales in the APAC region.
  • CASE exports India-made equipment to over 100 countries.
  • Pithampur plant is CASE’s second-largest global facility.
  • ₹1,000 crore invested in India over the last six years.
  • Plans for expanding production and localizing supply chains.

India is stepping into the global spotlight for CASE Construction Equipment, a subsidiary of CNH Industrial and a leading name in the construction machinery sector. The company has unveiled plans to position India as a crucial export hub, showcasing the nation’s growing role in its global operations.

India’s Contribution to CASE’s Success

Within the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, India contributes approximately 10% of CNH’s sales, with the domestic market accounting for around 3,500 units out of the company’s global production of 40,000.

Emre Karazli, Vice-President of the Construction Segment for CNH APAC, emphasized India’s dual importance as both a domestic market and a manufacturing hub. “India’s significance extends far beyond the local market,” he stated during the Bharat Construction Equipment Expo 2025. “With our advanced manufacturing and sourcing capabilities, India is becoming a vital supply base for CNH globally.”

The company exports India-made equipment—including backhoe loaders, skid-steer loaders, excavators, and compactors—to over 100 countries, demonstrating the nation’s rising stature in the global supply chain.

Cost-Efficient Manufacturing and Export Strategy

CASE Construction Equipment employs a strategic two-pronged manufacturing approach in India. Some components are fully produced and exported, while others are sourced as sub-components, assembled locally, and shipped overseas. This method reduces costs while maintaining high-quality standards.

The company’s Pithampur plant in Madhya Pradesh is pivotal to its operations. It is CASE’s second-largest production facility globally, after its plant in North America. Over the last five to six years, CASE has invested more than ₹1,000 crore in its Indian operations, with a significant portion directed toward the Pithampur plant.

Competitive Edge: India vs. China

Satendra Tiwari, Executive Director of Operations at CASE Construction Equipment, highlighted India’s cost competitiveness in manufacturing, driven by the global “China Plus One” strategy. This approach helps companies reduce dependence on China by diversifying their supply chains.

Fabrication costs in India are now nearly equal to those in China,” Tiwari noted. However, he acknowledged that advanced components like hydraulic pumps are still imported from countries like South Korea and Japan. To address this, CASE is collaborating with suppliers to localize the production of these high-tech components.

Plans for Future Growth

CASE is doubling down on its commitment to India. Shalabh Chaturvedi, Managing Director for India and SAARCrevealed plans for major expansions at existing facilities in Pithampur, Greater Noida, and Pune. These include adding new production lines, increasing export capacity, and boosting supply chain localization to reduce reliance on imports.

With brownfield expansions and a diversified product portfolio, India will remain a cornerstone of our global strategy,” Chaturvedi said.
